Google Flights

New functions allow you to find cheaper alternatives by exchanging departure dates, as well as comparing airports and accommodations

If you're the kind that travels with some flexibility, Google is releasing an update to your search engine that may help you save some money.

The company had already launched Google Flights (Google Flights) in October of last year. With it you can search for flights from different airlines and the tool will show you a calendar with the cheapest dates to travel, besides allowing you to schedule alerts, waiting for more friendly prices.

On Wednesday (30), the company announced that it is updating both Flight and the hotel search tool to facilitate the search for "best offers".

Now the two tools offer a way to find cheaper alternatives by exchanging your departure and arrival dates for just two days. You'll also be able to automatically compare various airports and accommodations around your destination.

The service is similar to what travel websites already do, such as Kayak. But of course, the fact that it's already delivered in Google's own toolbar already makes it easy.

Google will also expand the map display to show nearby airports that can help save on flight options. This appears next to the estimated travel time between the various airports and your destination, so you can weigh if the economy is worth the distance, for example.

The update comes first, for the version of Google Search for smartphones. The new features will also reach browsers by the end of this year, Google said.
