Expedition 29 to Return to Earth

ISS Status Report

Monday is homecoming day for Expedition 29 Commander Mike Fossum and Flight Engineers Satoshi Furukawa and Sergei Volkov. The trio is slated to land in the steppe of Kazakhstan aboard their Soyuz TMA-02M spacecraft at 9:25 p.m. EST (8:25 a.m. Tuesday Kazakhstan time) northeast of the remote town of Arkalyk.

Expedition 29 is set to undock from the International Space Station in the Soyuz vehicle at 6 p.m. Hatches closed between the Soyuz and the station at 2:41 p.m.

Undocking coverage on NASA TV starts at 5:30 p.m., and deorbit burn and landing coverage will be broadcast beginning at 8 p.m.

Fossum ceremonially handed over station command to new Flight Engineer Dan Burbank on Sunday. Burbank will remain aboard the station with Flight Engineers Anton Shkaplerov and Anatoly Ivanishin as the Expedition 30 crew. Expedition 30 officially begins when Fossum, Furukawa and Volkov undock from the station.
