NA1SS (Col. Wheelock) on 4 September 2010 @ 2200 UTC

I started calling for NA1SS as the pass started for me at 2159 UTC. Just after 2200 UTC Doug came on the radio. He heard my call for NA1SS, and asked for "Whiskey Kilo". I had a nice quick chat with him. Doug mentioned he was accompanied by his Russian crewmates Sasha Skvortsov, Misha Korniyenko, and Fyodor Yurchikhin. At the end of our QSO, the Russian ISS commander, Sasha Skvortsov, said some words to me in Russian. After this, Doug worked "RO" (probably N8RO in Texas), BRX (probably XE1BRX in central Mexico), XE1BMG, AD5TF, KD0KST, WA4HFN, "KUB" (probably W5KUB in Tennessee), "VJN", and KD0JWY as the signals faded away. My first ISS voice QSO since Bill McArthur was on the station in 2005-2006.

I was operating from grid DM43iu, about 60 miles/100km northeast of Phoenix, Arizona. I was using my IC-2820H 2m/70cm FM mobile radio at 15W, an Elk Antennas handheld 2m/70cm log periodic, and recording the audio with two digital recorders - my Sony ICD-P620 digital audio recorder, and a recorder app on my Nokia N900 cellular phone. The audio I uploaded is from the N900 phone, converted from WAV to MP3 using the Audacity software.
