ISS Communication - delay?
Hello everyone,
I've been interested in space exploration and astronomy for some years now. Recently while I was in a discussion with someone on the subject of the International Space Station, he brought up the idea that there is a 7 to 10 second delay in the live transmission. Now he couldn't remember the source of this number himself either, and I don't know what to make of this. But it did get me thinking about what kind of delays a listener would encounter tuning into the ISS audio transmission.
This apparently being a forum where amateur radio listeners come together to converse about the ISS, I thought this would be a good place to ask some questions about the subject.
How to set up MMSSTV
I would like to set up MMSSTV for reciveing ISS pictures for the next time they do it.
What setting do I use in MMSSTV? I hear RX Mode should be Robot 36 but what else?
I have a IC 746 Pro and a SignaLink USB Sound Card that I use for PSK and RTTY. Will that work?
Thanks

ISS astronaut made a video for me
Hi everyone,
I recently submitted a question to be answered by Frank De Winne on the ISS, and he made a video while in orbit to answer it for me:

SSTV images received.
Several ISS SSTV images where received which
are shown on the ARISS SSTV gallery
http://www.amsat.org/amsat/ariss/SSTV/
If you have received images please send them
via the ARISS SSTV submission page:
http://www.amsat.org/amsat/ariss/SSTV/submit.php
We may not be able to display every image because of
quality or duplication.
But we keep them in the archieve for futher investigation.

Limited SSTV planned for Dec 09-11
Another activation of the MAI-75 experiment using the SSTV system is scheduled from about 0700-1100 UTC on Dec 09-11. Various modes are expected with the downlink frequency being 145.80 MHz. Most activity will be in range of Moscow but some transmissions could occur beyond that region.
Watch http://ariss-sstv.blogspot.com/ for updates.
Children's drawing competition "I am in space!"
Student's satellite "SuitSat-2" will be delivered into orbit at december 2010. There are salutatory messages from founders of the satellite and a disk with children's drawings will be onboard. Full information at russian ariss site: Children's drawing competition "I am in space!"
Take a look inside ISS (amazing nice ISS tour VIDEO!).
Hello All,
I have found an intresting new video (in 4 parts) wich is made
by Mike Fincke (KE5AIT) who was aboard till April 2009.
Mike Fincke takes you trough the ISS and shows you
life aboard the Space Station.
He will show you several ISS modules, equipment, toilet.
And look inside the Soyuz landing/lauch vehicle.
Beautifull earth view from the ISS window.
I saw at video part IV a few seconds the ISS kenwood
microphone (at 1:53 minute of the video).
You can find the 4 ISS tour video's on youtube, but it
is also shown one my websites (thanks to those who uploaded).

SSTV Sept 24-25
Seems the Russian MAI-75 experiment will be active again on Sept 24 and 25 from about 1000-1600 UTC. Robot 36 is the expected mode and images should come down on 145.80 MHz.
Good luck capturing some Earth views.
