UI-View32 access to ISS - newbie

Hello all

Im new to ISS communications and am running UI-VIEW32

I can communicate to local stations no problem

Can you anyone advise me if it is possible to detect ISS using UI-View and if so what configurations are needed as different sites show various unproto addresses and this is confusing to a new bie

Im using 50W FM ICom FM rig on 144.825 with TNC to a 2m vertical on the roof of my house

regards

Pass time differances from this site and my NOVA tracking program

At 13:07 UTC this site advises that the next pass over my location is 1 Hour 20 minutes. Nova is showing about thirteen minuets to the pass at 13:15 UTC. Checked the town location and seems to be correct. Even if change this site tracking time to one hour less for DST the pass time is still off?

SuitSat-2

Has anyone heard anything about SuitSat-2? The only information I can find is the two articles on the SuitSat website. I thought it was supposed to be launched in late 2007/early 2008, but evidently not.

Future Events

Totally new to this. Want to find a site, page whatever, that gives me the dates and times for upcoming events e.g. orbit re-boosts, swapping of the soyuz tma 12 to its new docking module etc. Anyone help?

Also, can't find an update on Peggy. Is this whole "not seen on camera thing" just people being old women?

SkyWatch

On the NASA site there is an aid to finding the ISS as it goes over in the night sky. It has both tabular data and a sky picture called SkyWatch which shows a visual of the track of the ISS across the sky. (BTW SkyWatch is gotten by clicking on SkyTrack.) Of course this is old news to folks here.

I was going to explain it to my sister, but I am puzzled by one aspect of SkyWatch. When I am out looking at the sky, searching for the ISS I am remembering that the track drawn on the SkyWatch visual has two (sometimes 3) parts. One part is called acquisition and one is called sighting.

What in tarnation is the difference? When, where, what should my eyes be looking for? The acquisition track is in red and the sighting track is in yellow, but I'm really quite certain the ISS doesn't change colors from red to yellow to red as it flies over.

ATV-1

Here all info from ESA news WEB about the next docking of ATV-1 to ISS.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Three steps to ATV docking
"The spacecraft is functioning perfectly, the team is very well trained and we are looking forward to an excellent first docking attempt on 3 April. It will be complex, but after our successful launch and early orbit phase, and the transfer to the parking orbit, the entire team here on the ground has gained a lot of confidence in themselves and in Jules Verne," says Alberto Novelli, ESA's Mission Director at the ATV Control Centre (ATV-CC) in Toulouse, France.

Inside the station

I suppose this is not something you can find a technical quote for. In fact I kind of hope it isn't.

What does it actually sound like inside, let's say, Destiny?

No decibel levels allowed! Does it sound like a large office? Inside a car on the interstate? Waiting at the tracks while a train goes by (windows open/windows closed)? Starship Voyager? In front of an air conditioner? In bed with earplugs in? By a white noise sleep machine? ???

Somebody ask Peggy!

Broadacasting missions

Hi, this is my first time on. I have a question.

Who directs the broadcasts of mission operations when the shuttle is docked with the ISS? Are these people reachable? I've watched some of the operations during various activities (EVA's, inside installation, ingress, egress, etc.) and have found that during some of the most interesting operations the camera controller switches to some view of absolutely nothing happening, like outside watching the end of a solar array with endless clouds in the backgrouns or some black shot with a huge bright light motionless in the center of the screen, etc., etc. Do these people need some donations of nodoze?
