Please tell us a bit more

Please tell us a bit more about your situation, I mean trancevier, antenna, power etc..

Here: TNC2S, UISS/AGW, Kenwood TM-V7e (50W on VHF) and a Diamond X200n vertical
No issues here (even via LAN at home)

PEiPQZ:
Thanks for the reply. Station is a FT2200, 50 watts, M2 Egg Beater antenna and RigBlaster. Same software as yours. I hear packet being sent at 1200 bd. Decoding ISS ok. I am not sure how to use which form of message to send as in text or aprs

Re: Packet contact nil.

Hello WB9AZA,

Be sure if your rx and tx is simplex on 145.825Mhz FM/N.
Be sure the unproto "via:" address is ARISS (most people make here the mistake using RS0......).
Take a look on my UISS info page: http://iss.ontwikkel.nl/uiss.html
Keep in mind on that page shows an older UISS version.
In case it still does not work with the instruction info above, than test
to send aprs to the local USA aprs digipeaters on the local USA freqs.
Listen your transmitted audio on a second receiver if it sounds distorted.

Re: Cor: ARISS is rarely used...

What will you do if RS0ISS-4 shows up on screen?
ARISS unproto will work in all cases, that is why the
UISS programmer (Guy) selected ARISS unproto in the
standard UISS version.
Many people chance that (they should not do that).

Only saw the -3 and -11

Only saw the -3 and -11 SSID, nothing else...

ISS unproto address

"ARISS" as unproto always works for the ISS digipeater (to connect BBS/PMS use RS0ISS-11). ARISS as unproto address also works for PCSat (NO-44)

If RS0ISS-4 is online (reserved for crew contacts) RS0ISS-3 as unproto address woun't work, but ARISS will... always.

Marc

p.s.
Many stations (from Italy) connect to RS0ISS-3 the last few days over EU. This makes no sense, and only causes unnecessary traffic.

If RS0ISS-4 is online, that is reserved for the ISS crew, one could try to connect a crew member. But I have never seen a crew contact via packet-radio. So chance is minimal.

Alias

ARISS is an UNPROTO Alias. It does not show but is a valid path for all ISS digipeat configurations.

Re: Only saw the -3 and -11

Hello Andre,

In 2006 an ham from Belgium reported RS0ISS-4 showed up on screen.
I could not believe that, and later I noticed his comment was correct.
I could only get my beacons digipeated with ARISS in the
unproto path.

RS0ISS-4

RS0ISS-4 is rarely used, but was used several times this year.

(During the period that RX was 145.825 and TX was 145.800 by mistake)

Thanks Cor, I will check it out this weekend. Most ISS passes during daylite hours here in Wisconsin.

Maybe the band is too crowded? This occurs during passes over EU lately... ;-)
