Old ISS recording

G'day,

I was going over some old discs and came across this
audio of some of my packet and some voice attempting contact with the ISS, the voice appears to be female and there are two recordings, I am assuming from from two different passes. The voice also appears to be in Slavic or Russian and I remember this being a bit unexpected at the time, as I live in Australia. These recordings were made in 2004.

The recordings are at the following URL.

I am not sure about how to post a URL here, please copy and paste it, I experimented and the preview didn't work to my expectations.

Ground station

Seems what you heard in the first recording was someone on the ground calling for Alexander Kaleri. That would explain the constant packet bursts since it appears the crew member on ISS was not responding. I'd heard of a former soviet national (YL) who migrated to Australia and often had contacts with members of the MIR crew. Could be it is the same lady. VK3CFI seems to be her call since that is clear in the second recording. It is also my guess that she was running on simplex.

Regarding active URL, just make sure it is not on a single line by itself. I ususally add one word before it to make it active.
