ISS SSTV dates ?

How often does the ISS go to SSTV mode?
I mean its fun to do the APRS thing ..
But would really love to see more of an SSTV schedule.
How much advance warning do we usually get for a sstv transmission?
And is this site the best place to find out they are going to that mode??

Thanks

No current SSTV plans

There are currently no plans to put the radio into SSTV mode due to a limiting factor. That is the lack of a 6V power source for the VC-H1. This means that SSTV can only run when an adequate supply of batteries are available. Usually this is done when a special interest or opportunities presents itself and those are announced. Occassionally the Russians will conduct some tests of the SSTV system with little warning so watching this site for current reports is a good idea.

Long term plans call for a full time power source for the VC-H1 and at that time SSTV imagery can be transmitted with consistency over longer periods of time.
