I am speechless.

Thanks YET AGAIN.

It stays off for weeks/months at a time...and THIS was what you tied the transponder up for.

Good Job, Buddy!

Manners?

AS BEFORE....THERE ARE OTHERS THAT GET "LOCKED" OUT OF A PASS WHEN HARD CONNECTS ARE MADE.

Did you happen to hear/see the other 20+ stations on that pass that couldn't digi through it?

NO...OF COURSE YOU DIDN'T...you were too busy with:

Use it or lose it is a WEAK argument in this case. The transponder WAS being used. But, you connected to RS0ISS-11, and the pass theoretically ENDED for everyone in the Northeast.

Thanks for using it, before we lose it.

Manners ?

Not certain of your point ?

Even back to the eighties when the BBS was in orbit, with Discovery (I think ?), there were always those that connected to the BBS, and just did long lists, and read messages, cos that was all we thought we could do ?

Then lo and behold, we discovered, that it was more fun to use it as a digipeater, to connect to others. Those of us with a conscience, not wanting to tie the thing up forever with RR's, then discovered that it was even more fun to go "un-proto", and have qso's that way. With all the packets clashing, flying all over the place, and it being tough to get your report unproto seen, it was even more challenging, and even more fun !

My point is that we ALL want

My point is that we ALL want to use the bloody thing. Having ONE person CONNECTING to RS0ISS-11 limits what we ALL get to use. We have to wait for him to finish reading the BB. From absolute knowledge, I can tell you that others I have spoken with, transmit that much MORE when a station CONNECTS to the ISS. Is it intentional? Maybe. DO they want their fair share? Without question.

It's simply rude...

You want to read APRS mail? Stick with WinLink.

Sure I sound grumpy and pissy, but I KNOW I'm not the only one that hates -11 when connected to.

Get a grip John

John,
You were way out of line the last time you started this dialog and you're still out of line now.

Congrats & Kudos to Derek ve1wrg for the nice connections he made to the BBS & for using all the resources available to us efficiently.
By the way John, it looks easy huh?...lets see you connect and send just 1 message through the bbs in as expedient manor as Derek does, I timed him and have all the logs...hes lightning fast.
I didn't have any trouble sliding pkts thru between his transmissions...but it does take some effort & coordination.
I'll be watching for your masterful bbs technique in the future because I know you have all the answers & I may learn something from you besides the fine art of complaining.

This should be a non-issue for you as the footprint favors you in Buffalo, NY first, instead of blaming someone else for your inability to use the digi instead, why don't you focus your energy into peaking your own equipment to get into the machine better...you have the jump on him geographically.
Enough of the drivel about tying up the equipment..frankly its quite immature of you & un-becoming of an amateur op to hear you constantly complain publicly about others.
73 indeed

Ah .. ja

These "discussions" often end in the what-ever-mode...

Making hard connects and not minding others is based on egoïsm
Making a fuzz about that is based on egoism too.
"To want" is the verb that is used to express this self centered motivation.

"Patience" is the quality that can be learned from this all.
What a great hobby we have.
