Got my first SSTV image ever, but, what is it?
Hello folks,
I have never done SSTV before, I left MMSTV running,
and a few minutes ago, it all just sort of happened, all by itself.
This is the first image I have ever received on SSTV.
SSTV image received from ISS,
Oct 22 18.42 hrs local time Melbourne Australia,
Oct 22 7.42 hrs UTC.
Orbit 56853 +57 minutes
Frequency 145.800 Mhz FM.
Image of MMSSTV console at,

126kb
As you can see, there is a bit of grain in the image,
but the callsign is clearly visible.
I have no idea what the image actually is of.
Any guesses?

bad image
The red bar and the spectogram indicate that the audio level is very high. You can correct this from your computer audio settings.
Re: Got my first SSTV image ever, but, what is it?
The white part on the upperside of the picture is (part of) the soyuz capsule, the blue part is probably one of the oceans on Earth, as seen from the ISS.
There are more pictures RX-ed similar to yours. See the SSTV archive.

Thanks for the tips on saving the image. I was wondering where that was.
The signal might have been a bit weak, it sounded a bit quiet.
I'll keep trying.

When I saw this red bar, I turned down the record volume in windows/control panel.

I'll keep my eye on that bar next time it happens, did you post the image that you received, can you see what it is?
SSTV
As others have mentioned, the white part of the image looks like the Soyuz capsule - you'll see it from some of the other images on the site here.
The red bar and the overflow message show that the audio coming from your radio to the PC is too high, I would recommend using a 'line out' from the radio if you have one, instead of the external speaker.
Also use the line-in on the PC and not the mic input if you can.
Open the volume control on your PC, click on properties, then select adjust volume for recording, this will bring up the line in / mic controls - use these (with MMSSTV running) and squelch fully open to set the slider so you don't have the red bar, or overflow.
