Ive haven't played with the satellite in a couple of years now. From what Im understanding the ISS repeater is out and not working..? Any help is appreciated. Thank you, Rob H (kc8zsu)
It would be more correct to say that the ISS repeater (crossband voice) is not being utilized much. Most of the additional features of the radio system (Packet, SSTV, Crossband Repeater) are dependent on crew interest. Most will activate the packet system since it is the simplest to do. Others are willing to play with the more advanced features. In Oct 2009, I expect to have one of those interested crew members and we should see much more activity from the ISS for a few months.

OK, I understand now. But wasnt it a about a year ago that both (packet and the repeater) were operational at the same time? Thanks for the reply, Rob H KC8ZSU
That seems unlikely since the same radio supports both the Crossband repeater and packet operations so it can it can only do one operation at a time.
Your right. Im sorry. Like I said its been a long time since Ive played with the iss or even listened for it. For some reason I was thinking that both of those modes were in operation at one time. I do remember now that it wasnt like that. It looks like things have changed. I dont remember them using SSTV before. Thats really cool. Ill have to try to pick up some pics from it. I would like to show my girlfriends kids the sstv stuff. I think they would be interested in it. Do they have a schedule posted anywhere so I know about what time to listen for the sstv or is that just when they have time and feel like it thing? Thanks again, Rob H kc8zsu
Hello Rob,
Richard Garriott has some duties to do but have also spare time to play with amateur radio. Just trie all ISS passes when it is in your range. And if you are not at home keep your radio on with SSTV software (like MMSSTV). Incomming pics will be saved automatic on your hard disc.
