UI-View Configuration for ISS operations

G8ZLL – July 3, 2008 – 01:30

Hi All

As a newbiew to ISS APRS communications

Can anyone help

1) Is it possible to access ISS APRS comms using UI-View software - I can access many local stations already
so feal the software is working fine

2) If UI-view is suitable for ISS operations - what configuratiions are needed to make it work

I understand unproto address is needed - "Can anyone advise what address to use for iss"

on this site alone i have seen SGATE, Wide3-3 and CQ,ARISS to name but 2 options

3) Are there any good ducuments showing systems configurations.

From what I have observed on ISS friend site details are just general purpose and dont really show what is to be done
ideal if you are already up and running, but not really detailed if new to operations

any help here most appreciated

Packet ops via ISS

N5VHO – July 2, 2008 – 15:11

First thing I noticed is that the frequency you need is 145.825 (not 144.825). The ISS supports numerous unproto alaises but the most consistent is ARISS. You should be able to detect ISS when the radio is operating in packet mode an it is in range of your station. You can check the status either on this website or look to see the last time packet was heard on the www.ariss.net site.

ISS newbie

Kenneth

My error stating wrong frequency. I do have station set to 145.825.

I have seen unproto address as for iss operations as SGATE,WIDE3-3 CQ,ARISS to name but a few and on here there may well be more listed. It will be a great help for any newbie like myself to see good detail document stating what is needed with examples. I use UI-View here but am at a loss what to use for ISS comms in its configuration.

I would greatly appreciate assistance on the what to use for unproto adddress and where to install in UI-view. Having looked at the software there seems to be a number of locations to define this address

Any help most appreciated
