ISS on a verticle

Hi Mike, I have just joined the ISS fan club.com site, & have just read your question.
Yes you will be able to talk to the ISS with your comet GP-15 vertical antenna if that is what you are referring to.

I talked to NA1SS, Bill MacArthur, on the 29-1-06, on 145.800 MHz split using a Diamond V-2000, & a Yaesu ft-8900, with no problems what so ever. The contact lasted for about a minute, the signal was 5/9+ when overhead, till it was lost in the horizon. I still have the audio recording.
I can't wait for another contact on VHF, or UHF hopefully conditions permitting.
So I'm sure you will be able to the ISS with your Comet- GP15.

Re: ISS vertical

Mike, I'm using the Comet GP-3 mounted on my deck on top of about 10' of conduit and seems to work fine for most ISS passes.

X-50 vertical

I use a Diamond X-50 vertical with good results but some null effects on very high passes. The ISS is easy copy on 145.825 for packet and 145.800 for voice when active. I can easily copy it on my HT using the stock antenna.

ISS transponder!

Hello EA3AGH,

Currently the ISS voice x transponder is not active.
Probably it will be active later this year when astronaut
Mike Fincke goes to ISS.
An ARROW antenna should be good enough if you
point it exactly to ISS (with hand or AZ/EL rotator).
Normaly there is much QRM (on the ISS x repeater) on
europe 10 watts is recommed (or more is better).

TRSP activities

It would seem, that the transponder of ISS is not active a this time , if you read Status system you will have more information !
73's of course , and a hope to heard you with iss in the future !
F4FPR

Ps : For antenna : You need to use some directive [as one : Yagi , Quagi] , for the transponder , but only for APRS you can Use an vertical antenna [I use one personally of them and it's good for a lot of ISS-pass] !
