JAPAN SCHOOL CONTACT

MM0EFJ – January 5, 2007 – 23:57

Did I miss something here or did no-one know about this contact until after it was made? It would have been nice to get some warning on the site and maybe listen in or possibly catch these guys later if they still had the radio on voice as any contact with ISS is a rarity.

All "official" postings for ARISS events are posted to the SAREX reflector http://www.amsat.org/amsat/archive/sarex/48hour/threads.html . Three school contacts are posted there now (Jan 5). Often these are reposted to IFC but not always. The Japan contact was a direct so only stations in the footprint of ISS could have listened to the downlink.

Sarex reflector?

iz6byy – January 6, 2007 – 03:00

I bet some of the readers are asking themselves what the Sarex reflector is.
The sarex reflector is a mailing list run by amsat. One day they will change the name to something more convenient. That will happen probably after the ISS will have been replaced with a new space station... :-)
