About this site
This site has been created by a couple of old friends (Alain IZ6BYY and Claudio IK1SLD) in late 2001.
Not affiliated to any official body or organization, thanks to the contribution of its subscribers, the site provides realtime information about the International Space Station.
Most of the content is related to Amateur Radio activities since most of the members are active amateur radio operators.
In September 2002 Valeri Korzun, while onboard ISS serving as the expedition 5 commander, was informed about the Iss Fan Club so he wrote this message to Claudio:
Sep. 21, 2002 - 23:20 UTC
CLAUDIO, I THINK THIS IS A GOOD IDEA TO ORGANIZE ISS FAN CLUB. THIS IS COMMON INTEREST FOR ALL MEMBERS, NEW CONTACTS, NEW PEOPLE AND A LOT OF COMM WITH ISS. FAN CLUB WILL SUPPORT CREW ON ISS AND IT'S VERY IMPORTEN FOR ASTRONAUTS AND MEMBERS OF CLUB. THIS IS GOOD CHANS TO GIVE SOME INFORMATION ABOUT FLIGHT. MANY THANKS TO YOU, ALAIN AND PEOPLE WHO PROVIDE THIS IDEA. 73. VALERY
Later on, the Expedition 5 took a special picture inside the ISS dedicated to the ISS Fan Club. Download it here
